A quiet, steady year: 2025 in review
As the year winds down, we like to take stock. 2025 was not a dramatic year for Arcwell, and we mean that as a compliment. It was a year of steady, careful work — the kind that rarely makes headlines but quietly keeps a studio healthy and its clients well served.
Delivery, not drama
The bulk of our year went where it always does: into building and looking after software for the clients who trust us with it. We shipped a major release of a customer portal we have been evolving for three years, modernised an ageing reporting system without a single hour of unplanned downtime, and helped two clients bring their cloud costs back under control after periods of rapid growth. None of these are the stuff of press releases, but they are the work we are proudest of.
Partnerships that last
The thing that struck us most, looking back, is how much of our work this year was for clients we have known for years. Long relationships are the heart of how we operate, and 2025 reaffirmed why. The deep familiarity that comes from looking after a system over time lets us move faster and more safely than any newcomer could, and it is something we will keep investing in.
Looking ahead
We end the year a little larger than we began it, with new colleagues across all three of our practices and our first apprentice joining in the new year. We are moving into a new office, and we have reaffirmed the principle that has guided us from the start: stay small enough that a senior engineer is genuinely accountable for every project. We have no grand expansion plans for the year ahead — just a quiet intention to keep doing careful work for people who value it. Our thanks to every client, colleague, and collaborator who made this year what it was. We will see you in the new one.
